Employers are required to purchase and maintain minimum medical insurance coverage of S$15,000 per year for each Work Permit or S Pass holder.

The insurance should cover inpatient care and day surgery, including hospital bills for conditions that may not be work related.

The requirement is for basic coverage, but employers are still responsible for any uninsured medical expenses of their foreign workers as according to the work pass conditions.
